Boulder Flipping Ironman Dates in 2017 - 140.6 in June, 70.3 in August

Email announcement from The City of Boulder, the Boulder Convention and Visitors Bureau.....

Later today The City of Boulder, the Boulder Convention and Visitors Bureau, and IRONMAN will announce that they have committed to extend their partnership for an additional two-years with the continuation of IRONMAN® 70.3® Boulder and IRONMAN® Boulder triathlons in 2017 and 2018. At the same time, this agreement will move the IRONMAN Boulder triathlon to a June race date and the IRONMAN 70.3 Boulder triathlon back to its historic place in August.

Traditionally, the IRONMAN 70.3 Boulder is held in June and IRONMAN Boulder is held in August. In the coming year, these events will be flipped allowing the IRONMAN Boulder to run in June.

IRONMAN Boulder will take place June 11, 2017 and IRONMAN 70.3 Boulder will be contested on August 5, 2017.

ironman dates in 2017

I have had a hard time finding info on this date change. Its not on the IRONMAN website. I also don't really understand the difference between the two 140.6 and 70.3 . Can you help me with this???

Is this "official"?

Was this ever made official? No other mention of this anywhere else. I'm wondering if IM is waiting until this years 140.6 is over on 8-6 to make an announcement.
